Our most awarded wine, the Xanadu Cabernet Sauvignon has been won the title of Australia's Best 4 out of the last 7years in a row that Xanadu has taken this trophy home from the National Wine Show of Australia. Needless to say we're proud of this wine! Having won the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy in 2018 for our 2016 vintage, the pedigree of our Xanadu Cabernet continues to shine. Our 2019 is no exception, displaying a plush palate of inky berry fruits framed by subtle spicy oak. Vibrant and robust in its youth, this is a wine which will certainly benefit from further bottle maturation and will cellar comfortably for 5-10 years.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep red with purple hues

Nose

Vibrant and pretty, displaying characteristic blackcurrant, violets and mulberry aromas entwined with hints of bay leaf and potpourri.

Palate

Medium to full bodied, the elegant, yet generous palate offers a core of boysenberry, cassis, and succulent blood plums framed by understated cedar/spicy oak. Finely structured and beautifully balanced, it is an intricate wine with supple, fine-grained tannins and a lingering Cabernet finish.

With 5/4% malbec/petit verdot. Fruit from Wilyabrup, Wallcliffe, Treeton and Yallingup. 14 months in oak (40% new). Scintillatingly pure and taut, this is elegant, supple cabernet at its finest. Garden mint and purple fruit dominates; the length of flavour an enduring ripple on a still lake. Brilliant stuff, even more so given the price and its ability to age gracefully.
