The proud definition of our house style. These wines are produced from vineyards that are carefully managed by Yering Station’s team to ensure they reflect, and continue to reflect, Yarra Valley’s hallmark characters.

Classic in style, this wine displays a tight mineral backbone overlaid with opulent stone fruit creaminess. The center is richly complex, with a typical Yarra Valley long and lingering finish.

Shanteh Wale, Wine Pilot

Tightly wound with delicate white florals, fennel and guava. This is tropical but finely etched with pomelo citrus. Almond butter and upside down pineapple cake. There is a mid palate of candied fruits, attractive and alluring. The whisper of new oak adds creamy tones and buffered edges. This looks very fresh and will drink well now but also continue to develop slowly over the next 3-6 years. Serve with lightly poached trout in a lemon grass and coconut cream sauce.

Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

This is an example of precise Yarra engineering. Nothing is out of place; everything feels high spec; it’s tense of long and bristling with fruit. It tastes of hazelnuts and citrus, nectarines and nashi pears, green apple and slate. There’s a suggestion of green pineapple without ever really landing on it, and wafts of cedar too, along with a quick drift of herbs. Everything teams nicely. This is still very young but, even so, it’s very good.

Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

Barrel fermented and matured in puncheons (13% new) and a little mlf. Mainly estate grown. A very bright green gold. Quite a step up on the Village Chardonnay at a still very reasonable price. Complex aromas of stone fruits, grilled nuts and a little matchstick. There's good grip to on the nicely intense and well-balanced palate. Finishes pithy and long. I imagine this will age nicely over the short to medium term.

Angus Hughson, Vinous

The well-proportioned 2024 Yarra Valley Chardonnay opens with generous wafts of nectarine and white peach, complemented by subtle, well-balanced toasty oak. The palate is punchy, showing a solid core of tropical flavours lifted by crushed nut complexity and touches of smoky reduction that build over a lengthy finish. Still a little tight but with good potential to age well.

Notes

The challenges of spring, namely high rainfall and humidity gave way to consistently warm temperatures. These conditions saw an earlier than expected start to the season, and a very compressed vintage which produced balanced wines with concentrated flavours.
